What we like, and what to watch
What we like
- Low prices. Feature-packed dual-band handhelds start around $39 to $79, well below big-name radio brands.
- 2-year warranty and 30-day returns. The store advertises both, longer than many direct-from-China radio shops.
- POC radios without a platform fee. The P8 product page says the push-to-talk platform is free, with SIM service at $10 a year after the first free year.
Watch out for
- Most handhelds transmit on amateur (ham) bands such as 144-148 and 420-450 MHz. In the US you need an FCC amateur license to transmit there; check your local rules before buying.
- The return policy says a 15% fee may be charged, and it doesn't say who pays return shipping.
- Most orders ship from China, about 8 to 15 days to the US. Taxes and fees are calculated at checkout.
- We found no written warranty terms beyond the "2 year Warranty" line in the cart.
Who should buy from Radtel
If you're a licensed ham or a radio hobbyist, Radtel's handhelds pack a lot of features for the money. If you just want walkie-talkies for the family, check which bands a model uses first, or look at the POC radios, which work over 4G.
Radtel
Licensed ham operators and radio hobbyists who want feature-heavy handhelds at low prices, or groups who want POC radios that work over 4G with no platform fee.
Radtel FAQ
Is Radtel legit?
Radtel.com is the store of Xiamen Radtel Electronics, with published shipping and return policies. This review is based on those official pages, not hands-on testing.
Do I need a license for Radtel radios?
Many Radtel handhelds transmit on amateur (ham) bands, which require an FCC amateur license in the US. POC radios like the P8 use the 4G cellular network instead. Check each product's bands and your local rules.
What is the Radtel return policy?
You can request a return within 30 days of receiving the item. It must be unused, in the original packaging, with proof of purchase. Sale items and gift cards are excluded, and the policy says a 15% fee may be charged.
How long does Radtel shipping take?
The policy quotes about 8 to 15 days to the US and 5 to 16 days to Europe from China, or 3 to 7 days when a local warehouse has stock.
