What we like, and what to watch
What we like
- Wide power range. The lineup runs from a 20 mph Class 2 fat-tire bike to 8000W-peak dirt bikes, with specs such as battery size, rider height and max load listed on each product page (the brand's own claims).
- Parts sold direct. Replacement batteries, motors, controllers, displays, tires and fenders are listed on the same store, and warranty claims are handled by shipping free replacement parts.
- Free e-bike shipping. E-bikes ship free from US warehouses to the contiguous US, with a published 1-3 business day handling time and Klarna, PayPal and Afterpay installment options.
Watch out for
- Returns are tight: 14 days, unopened and unridden bikes only, you pay shipping both ways and $400 per bike is deducted; parts and accessories can't be returned.
- The advertised 2-year warranty covers only the frame, stem and handlebars; motor, battery and controller get 1 year, electronics 3 months, wear parts 30 days, and labor isn't covered.
- Many models list 45-56 mph off-road speeds and the site says they may not qualify as Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bikes; check local rules before riding on roads or paths.
- Some pages showed conflicting prices and stock status, and the policy pages contain a few inconsistencies (14 vs 20 days, a placeholder in the price guarantee), so get terms confirmed in writing.

Freego FAQ
Is Freego legit?
freegobikes.com is the brand's official US Shopify store, with published shipping, return and warranty policies, a help center, user manuals, an email address (support@freegobikes.com), a phone line and a returns warehouse address in Chino, CA. Separate stores serve Canada and Mexico. This review is based on the official pages, not hands-on testing.
How does Freego shipping work?
E-bikes ship free to the contiguous US and Washington DC from US warehouses via UPS, FedEx or DHL. In-stock orders ship in 1-3 business days and take 3-8 business days in transit. Parts orders under $390 pay $8-$15. Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other islands are listed as undeliverable.
What is the Freego warranty?
The site advertises 2 years, but the policy splits it: 24 months on frame, stem and handlebars, 1 year on motor, battery and controller, 3 months on electronics and 30 days on wear parts. Freego ships replacement parts free; labor is not covered. An optional paid protection plan is offered at checkout.
Can I return a Freego e-bike?
Only within 14 days of delivery if it is unopened, unassembled and unridden. You pay return shipping and the original shipping fee, and $400 per bike is deducted from the refund. Parts and accessories are non-returnable. Contact support before sending anything back.
Are Freego bikes street legal?
The Maxx M3, X1 SE and Shotgun models are marketed as Class 2. Higher-power models such as the X2 Pro, X3 and Nova series list off-road speeds of 45-56 mph, and Freego's own pages say they may not qualify as Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bikes, so check your local rules.
